Tuition is the Issue – Rally
Tuesday, December 1, 2009, 12:00pm – 1:00pm, Flagpoles, UC Irvine
Across California fees are rising and students are realizing tuition is the issue. Last Tuesday at least a thousand students rallied and protested against the UC Regents decision (http://www.ireport.com/docs/DOC-361147). Lets show Yudoff UCI will not stay quiet until something changes. Don’t miss out on being a part of history. Come to the UCI flagpoles to learn more about how to help join in the fight against the 32% fee hikes and the worker layoffs taking place across the UC’s. This program will feature the commanding speaker Amir Abdel Malik Ali who while attending San Francisco State University in the 80s was elected as President of his student body and worked to secure interest free loans for students of need on his campus.

PLEASE INVITE EVERYONE, WE MUST ALL STAND UP AND MAKE OUR VOICES HEARD!
Thursday, December 3, 2009, 5:00pm – 8:00pm, TBD-Student Center
After all the protests, there has been a lot of energy from the beautiful community.
But a lot of us are asking, “So what do we do now?”
Please, come together–students, administrators, staff, faculty, workers, and/or organizations–so we can talk about new strategies and the next steps to take to get our demands!
We all have different wants, needs, and demands, but let’s try to make a collective movement for justice and education!
The (R)EVOLUTION is NOW!

Faculty is highly encourage to join students in this peaceful protest. The presence of faculty not only will create stronger bonds between teachers and students on campus, but will also deter admin and the police from shutting us down! Tell your teachers that there will be space available for them anytime between 4pm Friday and 5pm Saturday, and maybe later; if they want to do a teach-in, they are free to talk about whatever they want. Anything else they want to do is totally fine too! If you need help in a class, emphasize the review session option.
