Assemblymember Isadore Hall, III Condemns Racist and Sexist Compton Cookout Event

Assistant Speaker pro Tempore Isadore Hall, III (D-Compton) stood at the Capitol steps, with his fellow legislators including Speaker Karen Bass and Speaker-elect John Pérez to publicly condemn a racially offensive student event hosted this past weekend by students of the University of California, San Diego.

“We have made great strides in this state and this nation to heal the racial scars of our past… yet events such as this remind us that we must all continue to be vigilant, stand, and continue to speak out each and every time an act of racism or bigotry rears it ugly head.  We must continue to shine a light for all to see that we will not accept hate in our public schools, we will not accept hate in our public universities, and we will not accept hate here in our state.”

UCSD’s Chancellor, UC President Mark Yudof, and the UC Board of Regents have been called to launch an immediate investigation into this case.
