11:30am – 1:15pm
Sac State Library Quad
The Sac State Coalition are Sacramento based students, teachers, and individuals organizing and advocating for all students against fee increases, mandated furloughs, decreased class offerings, closed enrollments & other issues they face in an effort to preserve the accessibility, affordability and quality of higher education in the State of California.
The purpose of the event is to provide awareness on how the budget cuts are affecting the CSU, specifically Sacramento State’s students, departments, and programs. We also seek to encourage participation in the upcoming actions taking place on March 4 and March 22 at the capitol. We will begin with a rally to bring the students together, and continue with a tour to highlight departmental cuts (both programs and faculty cuts). Finally, there will be Sac State students and faculty speakers voicing their concerns about the cuts to higher education. In addition, students will be putting on guerilla theater skits to portray how the cuts and fee increases have affected them.
