PROGRESSIVEBOTS, ROLL OUT NOW FOR SAFRA!

UPDATE:

The phone lines on Capitol Hill are being jammed by students!  This is good and bad- while it means we’re making our voices heard, it also means students aren’t getting access to their Senators’ phone lines.

Time for round 2!

Click here to submit a pre-written letter urging your Senators to support student aid reform inclusion in budget reconciliation.  Your Senators’ office numbers will also be provided when you click the link, so make sure to call them directly as well.

Taking 2 minutes of your time to contact your Senators will help pass the greatest higher education investment in American history.

Keep up the good work everyone!

For the Students,

Gregory Cendana, President

United States Student Association

ORIGINAL:

I just got this email from United States Student Association!  This is an incredibly important issue that needs student attention immediately – the Student Aid and Fiscal Responsibility Act (SAFRA) will raise the pell grant, will simplify the FASFA, and streamline and make the loan aid to students more cost effective!

Hey all,

Please read this, forward it out, and ACT on  it now! In les than 2 hours Democratic leadership will be meeting to decide whether or not to include Student Aid Reform in the reconciliation bill that will include Health Care Reform. If they don’t, STUDENT AID REFORM WILL LIKELY DIE! We need as many calls as possible made RIGHT NOW (literally)- Sript included below. Please ask your student orgs, your student government staff, your friends, your parents, EVERYONE to call now. If this doesn’t  pass, Chairman Harkin of the Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions Committee said that Pell Grants could be cut as much as 60% next year!

In Cali: focus on Senator Feinstein, who is on the fence about supporting putting this in reconciliation. She has a history of being very responsive to students, so call now. (202) 224-3841.

I attached a fact sheet on SAFRA if anyone needs more information. Please call me with any questions. Thanks for your efforts to save SAFRA and the Pell Grant!
