Beyond UC: Another 15 percent fee increase approved for Cal States


As fee increases in the UC system are continuously on the rise, the Cal State Board of Trustees recently approved another 15% tuition increase for all Cal State Universities. The yearly tuition for the Cal State has nearly doubled over the last eight years and has led many students towards finding different ways to show their dismay at the tuition increase. Recently, students created a “protest cardinal” outside the Board of Trustee meeting in Long Beach to protest against the new 15% increase. Although the trustees say the fee increase is needed to improve the quality of education and create more classes, the students are doubtful about the improvement such an increase will bring about in their quality of education.
