With oil prices increasing due to the conflict in the Middle East, a new bill calling for the use of renewable energy has been introduced in the Senate. The bill was earlier vetoed by Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger but supporters of the bill are once more resurrecting the idea hoping Brown would be more agreeable. The bill “would require utilities to buy at least 33 percent of state electricity from renewable sources by 2020.”
