UC 411: UC working on preserving the Pell Grants

Mark Yudof and UC Student Associate President Claudia Magaña are working to preserve the Pell Grants despite the threats of cuts, “including a $5.7 billion slash to the program in the House Republicans’ proposed federal 2011-2012 budget.” Pell grants are extremely important for students with low-income to pursue their education. Last year, UC students received $286 million in Pell Grant and about 40 percent of students received Pell Grants last fall.
