UC 411: Brown’s tax plan gains support by University leaders

The leaders of the University of California and the Cal State systems have grown their support for Brown’s tax plan in order to balance the state budget. With each university system facing over $500 million cuts, leaders worry that more tax cuts ahead if Brown’s tax plan is not enacted. If taxes are not extended, university “enrollments will decline, we’ll turn tens of thousands of students away. We’ll have to raise tuition more,” says Charles Reed, CSU Chancellor.
