Beyond UC: Trouble in the community


Startling statistics on community college students in the inland empire state that only 3 out of 10 students graduate with a diploma from community college, and only 2 out of 10 end up transferring to four-year colleges.  Possible causes cited are the private lives of the students (for example, individual academic readiness and students who must juggle family and school) and frustration with the system itself (students having trouble getting into classes at community colleges).
